I've got a Mac Mini set to never sleep hosting my iTunes Home Share to 3 Apple TV 3's. Often we've been seeing that our Apple TVs have problems accessing our Home Share. Sometimes restarting the Apple TV fixes the problem but not always.

I've confirmed the Mac Mini time is correct, set the computer sleep to never, checked wake for network access and startup automatically after power failure. It's important to point out when we had Apple TV 2's this was never an issue. 2 of the 3 are on cat5e and the 3rd is wifi. My router is the old style (not tower) Airport Extreme.

What could be wrong? Do I need to schedule a nightly restart or wake? Please let me know if more details are need as I really want to fix this. My wife depends on the wifi one in the morning to do her workout and sometimes has to skip it due to these issues.

I haven't had many issues with my ATV3. Every once in awhile I need to restart iTunes. You might try never sleeping the ATV. It doesn't use much power.
