Having a bit of a weird issue. I am trying to play a movie on my Apple TV via home sharing. I have done it countless times with success. However this time it just shows the loading wheel and never plays. I have turned home sharing on/off on my laptop and Apple TV to no prevail. Is this a common problem people are having these days with the new OS X? I am quite confused as to why its happening all of a sudden. Any help would be great!

Home Sharing never loads

Was having the same issue for a while upon an OS X update. Here is the real fix:
1) open system prefs
2) open sharing
3) At the top of the window you see "computer name"
4) Change the computer name to something else
That's it; apple tv should recognize it right away.
