Looks like it's here to stay. They lose their responsiveness with all the double-clicking over time. I had always heard Steve Jobs wanted to get rid of it, and this was close to 2 years ago. Obviously, Apple came to the conclusion to keep the standard setup on this. You know they've questioned the home button.
