Am i the only one too stupid for the Home App? That’s one App from Apple I do not understand how to set up at all. I still use the Hue App to control my lights. Every time I open the app it tells me the names have changed and if I want to update them and I am like NO leave it be (Alexa also uses the names) or I see my lightbulbs twice
Yeah, the philips bulbs not only aren't very bright, but they don't dim low either.
Use dual adapters for lamps That need more light. I have 2 in 4 of my lamps. This is literally the first "smart home" thing that has sounded remotely worthwhile to me. And still, having Night Shift (or F.lux, to give proper credit) for my interior lighting would probably set me back quite a few bucks. Also, all the smart bulbs I've seen seem to max out at something like 800 lumens which is just sad and dim.
I'll probably just stick with my current setup, which is to use Philips 1800 lumen dimmable LEDs that skew warmer as you dim them and whiter when you crank them up. That so far is working quite nicely and provides ample light.

I know it’s not practical but it’s there for people that need that extra light for that one spot. I like changing the light color a little bit to change the feel of whole area too with two bulbs in one light. all the hue stuff is basically on a dimmer you can control on your own or get those light switches you can program to only one single lamp if you wanted to do that. Practical no. Expensive yes but that’s what you have to do if you want all the same smart lights. For now anywaySplitters aren't practical for desk lamps or many other fixtures.
I have a splitter in my main living room lamp: 2x 1600 lumens at full brightness, which is enough to light up a room nicely. But it's also on a dimmer so I can choose any level. It would take three low-brightness connected bulbs to hit that, and what would I spend on that, $60 or so?

I’m sure one day they will offer brighter options. I’ll still use my double bulbs because I like the color combinations they can make. Maybe get two super bright ones for main lights.Yeah, I don't want to crap on the idea entirely, because day/night color-adaptive lighting is a very cool (or warm) idea.
But I really do wish there were brighter options. Most smart bulbs come in at like the equivalent of 40-60w incandescent bulbs, which is fine for accent lighting but quite dim for a lot of uses -- unless you start piling on the bulbs which gets pricy quick. Hopefully at some point they'll start doing brighter options, though the cynic in me thinks they're quite happy to sell a higher number of dimmer bulbs.
So basically you’re saying that you have no reason to respond to this thread, but are going to anyway?I turned Night Shift off on my phone and laptop, and turned on whatever True Tone is instead. I prefer it.
I have some Hue bulbs but they're all the cheapest white ones, so no colour / ambient possibilities.
Yes it was. Thanks for asking. Hope your useless comment was fulfilling in some small way, too.So basically you’re saying that you have no reason to respond to this thread, but are going to anyway?
Was it as fulfilling an activity as you hoped it would be?
