Hi, I’m looking to renovate my bathroom and would love to install some speakers into the ceiling... these naturally need to be HomeKit enabled! :)

Does anyone know of any that fit the bill? Alternatively, is there some kind of kit you can get to ‘proof’ the speaker and make it suitable for bathroom use?

thanks in advance!

When you say HomeKit enabled, do you mean that it works with Siri and shows up in HomeKit as an accessory? As far as I know, only the HomePod has that capability. Even if, the button is really just a play/pause. Not sure How you’d mount those into a ceiling either.

If you just need for music, then any Airplay 2 speaker would suit your needs.

I don’t have much experience in this but I think you can install any bathroom suitable speakers in the ceiling and wire them to an AirPlay 2 receiver.

Ah! Nice idea on the receiver. Any idea what the cheapest AirPlay 2 receiver is?
Not much experience with them but if you go to the Home App, tap the + button on the top right of the screen, tap add accessory, then at the bottom, learn about HomeKit accessories, there’s a pretty extensive list of Airplay 2 enable receivers and speakers. Might find what you’re looking for there.

I just bought a Sonos One and that’s all. It has airplay 2 and its humidity resistant, ideally for a bathroom.

I have a Sonos One I have been using for a few months now. It's been great. I actually had an idea last night about putting speakers in the ceiling directly above the shower. After thinking about it for like 15 seconds I realized it would probably cost around $800-1000 to do properly and that's much too rich for my blood. Happy to just keep using the Sonos One.
