I can no longer get my HomePod to turn lights on or off or anything like that. It use to work, but not says it doesn't recognize anything like that.

Any suggestions?

You are not alone - see
Homepods are not mentioned in that thread but Homekit seems to be a disaster after recent Apple software "updates"

It working fine for me. Try switching off your homepod and make them sure that HomeKit recognised a hub. Make suet that you can control your lights via the native hub

And is it working again?

Do you also own Apple TV's? I've had problems a couple of months ago because for some reason the Apple TV's aren't doing a good job being a homekit hub. I disabled both Apple TV's in my home as a hub and since then everything works as a charm. (except when my ISP modem started acting up)

I am having the same issue. It used to work a few days ago, but it no longer does. Siri with HomeKit works on the iPhone and the iPad just fine.
i tried rebooting the HomePod, repairing it and so on. Nothing works.
