Going to be moving to homekit soon. I just got my Honeywell Lyric controller running and it integrates with Homekit now. I have an apple ecosystem in the house already and will be replacing one of my ATV3 units with an ATV4 for homekit scene control. I have previously used Zwave controlled receptacles and switches but I am so happy about homekit since it will use wifi and its much easier to extend the range vs Zwave.

So question I have is about scenes. I have done lots of searches and cant find an answer. Since i dont have the ATV4 yet (stuck at work till monday) and wondering if I can run a scene based on a calendar date.

When the builder did my tract the original owner opted for the xmas light option. I have two outlets in the eves first and second floor for powering xmas lights. Does homekit drill down to calendar day or a range as a trigger? Can I set up a scene to say turn on these switches at dusk and turn off after 6 hours from Nov 10th to January second? Or do i just have to set the scene up to run everyday and if I want the xmas lights off and have not brought them down yet have to go in an delete the scene?

I know this is trivial and a total first world problem type question but just curious on the totality of control with the homekit scene control.

I don't think that's possible... I would just set a reminder to myself to disable or delete the automation on January 2nd. (Scenes are collections of accessories with selected state changes - light off, lock unlocked, light on, etc. Automations are how you can trigger the scenes, based on time of day, or when an event occurs (switch turned on, etc.).

The Elgato Eve app lets you choose when an automation starts based on a calendar date, but I don't see a way to choose an end date.
