I had a Netatmo Presence running Homekit Secure Video and recording to icloud nice and fine. Worked great and was seriously considering buying more of these puppies.

The Netatmo complained a bit about not good enough WiFi and I was working on improving that. FWIW: That's done in the mean time, got a Ubiquity Unify WiFi6 setup replacing the aging Apple AirPort Extreme.

But before that network gear even arrived, on Sunday the 19th (last week) the Netatmo Presence stopped sending recordings to icloud.
Home.app also started to complain that the Netatmo Presence needed a software update.

I did notice it, but had no time to work on it then.

The Netatmo "Security" app installed the update on it's own on Wednesday the 22nd.

[The connect/disconnects there are due to the bad WiFi coverage - I installed the new network gear only on Friday]

On Wednesday, I also updated to iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS to the 15 version across my devices (obviously not macOS)

And ever since that Wednesday: the Home app keeps complaining the Netatmo Presence needs a software update, but there's no way to force the Netatmo Presence to redo the update it already has AFAIK, or as far as I could find.

Also the home.app now keeps on prompting to use more of the icloud+ secure video features (more cameras supported in our 200Gb subscription) - it doens't do that on macOS (that home app is obviously not updated yet).

And while the camera is fully set to to send recordings to icloud, the lack of being up to date on software from Apple's homekit viewpoint means it won't send video to icould.

Anyway the camera still records on itself but doesn't record it anymore to icloud at all (you can still live view the camera in the home app, but that's not the homekit secure video feature)

I did contact Netatmo, but have not heard back from them yet.

Anybody else have the same problem ? And found a workaround ?

I have the same problem since I have updated my iPhone to iOS 15 on Monday. Unfortunately, I could not resolve the issue so far.

Good to know I'm not the only one. Thanks for reacting.

After turning off the recording of the camera and then turning it back on, it seems to work fine.
I power-cycled mine yesterday and unfortunately since it has not recorded anything anymore, neither in the Apple home app nor in the Netatmo security app (where it still recorded till before I did turn it off and on again).

I've just now turned the recording options "off" and back to "stream and allow recording" in the Apple home app and that at least seems to have restored the recording on the device itself (recording new stuff visible in the Netatmo security app), but there's absolutely nothing from yesterday anymore and also nothing new goes to Homekit Secure Video.

There's also still the "warning" in Apple's home app that the camera needs a software update [an update that doens't exist or isn't recognized as already having been installed for all I know. That update lack is enough to stop homekit secure video from working AFAIK.

Both of my cameras run Firmware 3.2.0 which is the latest version as far as I know.

I still don't understand anything of it.

I contacted netatmo support and they told me to "ignore the warning [in homekit]".. After telling them that that still borkes the ability to do Homekit Secure Video (as that's got a requirement to be on the latest software on the camera), they got back they'd confer with their Apple contacts.

Then I notice the warning about the software on the netatmo needing a software update is gone. Yet it's still on the very same 3.2.0 ... So I guess somewhere along the line one of the things Apple can update did become OK with the 3.2.0 software for some reason or another and all now seems to be working again for some reason.

Pity it took so long.

Weird, very weird is all I learned from the whole ordeal.

What might be different for me: we have icloud+ - so maybe somthing is different if you're allowed 3 streams vs. just one. But even then it all feels off somehow.

The update from the "old" iCloud subscription to the new iCloud+ might have caused some issues. I guess, we will never find out... In any case, I am happy to hear that everything works fine again.

I'm having the same issue. I'm running firmware 3.2.3 and iOS 15.1.1. After a hard restart (kill power to the garage and back on again) it will record HKSV for a short while, then nothing again until I reboot the camera. What can I do? I'm guessing this is a software bug Netatmo needs to fix.

I’m running the same firmware on the cameras, I’ve got 5 Netatmo cameras and have never seen them all working at the same time in HomeKit/iCloud. Even though I have a account that’s allegedly unlimited for cameras.

I contacted Netatmo and here's what they said:

Hello,

Thank you for your patience,

I am getting back to you regarding your ticket (Apple Homekit secure video).

This is a complex topic and we are currently working on this. We are expecting a new software update that will add more logs and help us understand.

We want to reassure you we are on it and we would like to thank you for your patience while we are working on getting this issue fixed,

We will close the ticket for now and we will send you a message once we have more information.

Kind Regards,

I seem to have got it working by turning off Multicast enhancement on my Unifi WAPs. This is an IGMPv3 feature.
