That part is especially important for me, as I'm not paying a subscription to have video stored in the cloud. I'm in no rush and Netatmo's cameras went on sale for black Friday last year, so I may buy one or two later this year. Netatmo is also coming out with a HomeKit smoke detector I'm interested in as well.

That what i said, all these cameras on the market today sucks with these cloud services which are charging people monthly plans for their laziness on not wanting to manage their own files locally. Which was the whole point of a drop cam when these cameras came on the market.

Yea so i did some research and it looks so far apple TC's dont support FTP since its unsecure and they have their own protocol called AFP. So i will have to find away to implement an FTP server on my network smh and im not using dropbox service either.

I’ve got more faith in Netatmo adding HomeKit than some others at the moment. They said they’d add it to their thermostat and they did. I’m loving their thermostat to be honest, might not be as flashy as some but it does everything I need it to and does it well.

I've got an old MBP that I've got setup as a server that I can use FTP to store the files.

Maybe doable if it’s not jut a HomeKit only camera. Most ipcams can write to a ftp server anyway.

So using one of those along with Homebridge, you’ll get the best of both worlds. A HomeKit compatible camera which can write to your ftp server as much as you like.

I’m even in the process of turning a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a Pi camera into a little HomeKit compatible ipcamera.
It’s really just for keeping an eye on my 3D printers and my Laser. But I decided to do the Pi because I had one lying around. But even if I didn’t, it’s inexpensive and I can power it from a 30,000mah battery pack so I can easily move it and it should give me several days worth of juice. And most importantly, it’s something I can tinker with :D

Netatmo finally added HomeKit support to Welcome. It comes with firmware revision v250.

Finally!
