Wow! Really? Are the walls and floors all concrete or a material that would be obscuring in some way the WiFi signal?

I don't know that over-doing the mesh arrangement would lead to problems, but maybe it does. This sure seems to me like a serious over saturation of WiFi signals coming from the various mesh devices throughout your home. Even if you have a large number of connected devices to the system. Even if this number of mesh devices will work together properly, and I do not have the technical know-how to say one way or another, this is a large cost for much more equipment than should be needed.

I would suggest that you talk to technical support at Eero and discuss this with them. Someone who is an engineer and can advise you regarding your particular situation.

Quick update on this. I’m in way too deep with eero. I tried one more time before making the switch and so far so good *knock on wood*. As of now, I only connected personal devices (laptops, cell phones, tablets) and my HomePods, AppleTVs and Televisions and a Peloton. No smart home devices yet but it seems to be running solid now. I factory reset each router and left them unplugged until it was time to connect them as if I just removed them from the box.

It may have been my fault. I have this OCD with mesh WiFi systems that each room should have its own router for the best connections. I was probably bogging down the system. I own 7 pro routers and 5 beacons. Probably a bit much lol. I just went with the 7 routers now.

What did you mean by do they “phone home?”
Ha dang that is a lot of routers. Quick question: over/under 10,000 square feet in your house??! 😁

Peloton? That's a baller indoor bike! I just bought a cheap Pro Form bike and waiting for my Concept 2 rower allocation!

I just got my two Eero Pro 6 routers and I'm gonna set them up soon. Though long about this, a month and a half since purchasing on Black Friday, and figured id just keep them since I don't have a HomeKit router right now anyway. Currently running the last gen AirPort Extreme and I desperately need a new router for all the HomeKit bits I'm running.

Unless you have signal strength issues in the rooms or are on an ethernet backbone for all routers, more is not necessarily better. You will see band crowding and in some cases get multiple hop forwarding, which will reduce speed. In my 3000 sqft two-story home the three routers of the Pro 6 are enough for good coverage including a wide swath of front and backyard. I occasionally use w WiFi 6 extender for a Windows laptop that has trouble with our distant pools. The Macs and iPads are just fine there.

Interesting to note I sent Eero support on Twitter inquiring about Thread - the response was that the hardware is on the Pro 6 but hasn’t been enabled “yet.”

My guess is they’re waiting the Matter rollout

Thread has been in the eero for a few years now before anyone knew what it was so not sure they’re just waiting for Matter. At least the toggle has been in the settings for my eero pro and now pro 6 but no mention in the app of it not being enabled. Interesting they said that it’s not enabled.

Oh sure add it after I returned it since it didn’t offer PPPoE - many ISPs outside the U.S. still require it. Eero leaving major money on the table for something that’s relatively easy to implement.

Should be. I mean, Thread is Thread, so the Eero routers should be acting in conjunction with the rest of the devices within the Thread network.

I noticed the Thread toggle setting in the eero app a few years ago when I first starting using eero. Had no clue what it was back then but it sounded good so I always left the toggle on lol. I guess they’re making a big stink now since it’s gaining popularity in the smart home business.

Edit: Never mind that. Eve says this type of connection isn’t supported by Apple “yet.” Kinda weird since Eeros are HomeKit compatible.

Edit edit: You really can’t make this crap up. So after talking to Eve support I have learned that Thread is not simply thread. There are different comparabilities. So Eve thread can’t talk to eero thread. And nanoleaf thread couldn’t either. So Thread, for now, is more of the same nonsense that we’ve been dealing with that Thread was supposedly here to solve.

I’m curious if the rep is talking about the portion of the app that just shows the Thread network of Eve devices on a “map” layout. I don’t have any Eve accessories but I do have four HomePod minis that don’t show up in the network. I dunno, this is more confusing than anything now.

I emailed the Thread Group to try to get some answers. I’ll report back on that.
