Please take the poll especially if you have tried both. To me, the main attraction would be newer hardware (so hopefully faster at processing commands) and minor features like the humidity sensor. Negatives would be the smaller number of tweeters and mics.

Not a very popular device huh?

Maybe I'll wait for some 3rd party devices that offer Siri integration.

I had 3 OG homepods, one died with the error blinking problem, fun... so I sold the other 2 for a pair of used 2nd gens with 22 mo. of Applecare. I did not trust the originals to not just fry like many have, and are not repairable.
Only $100 out for the swap. Sounds slightly different; only! slightly, still great. And Siri is much, much faster...and the 2G will integrate with future home integration better.

I'm trying to sell my original HomePod locally on craigslist but so far not a single expression of interest in over 10 days. Not sure I want to buy a new one without first selling the old one.

Interestingly, both the HomePod 2 and HomePod Mini are made in Vietnam.
