When I stream apple music from my phone to the HomePod 2, there would sometime be a 2-5 seconds delay before the music would start. I do not have this problem with other wireless speakers like the B&O A6. Not sure if anyone has the same issue or this is a problem specific to my unit.

Thanks.

I've noticed my OG HomePod stutters ... like a second of the song will play, pregnant pause, then it resumes. This seems to be a new behavior.

Both of those sound like typical Airplay behavior to me. The hiccup issue at ~1 second into the first song is well established, and it always took 2-5 seconds for it to connect to any of my speakers - apple products or not. Perhaps the HP2 is making that worse?

Are you sure though that the B&O isn’t connecting via Bluetooth? That would explain its uncharacteristic responsiveness.

I was connected to the B&O via Bluetooth so that explains the lack of delay.

Yep, Airplay is nice in that it's largely ubiquitous, and can work with a variety of speakers when doing whole home audio; but unfortunately, of all the ways I know to get music to a speaker, it's the most sluggish.

Same thing here, I guess it's normal? It's definitely annoying though hitting play/pause in Apple Music or Youtube and the audio doesn't start/stop right away.. You'd think in 2023 that would not be an issue.

if you're playing Apple Music on the HomePod, using the player in the HomePod will get rid of some of the stuttering.

You can accomplish this with hand off, just get the music playing on your phone, and hold it next to a hompod, the audio should jump over to the player in the HomePod automatically.

for Apple Music, handoff should send it to the player. For other apps like Spotify, it should start playing over airplay.

Or if in the airplay menu, click control other speakers at the bottom, it will pop up a list of your devices, and you can select there. Once you've done this, your Apple Music app on the phone becomes a controller for the player in the homepod.

to tell how it's being played, look at the bottom of the screen in the music app... "iPhone -> living room" means it's using airplay, "Living room" means it's playing on the HomePod directly.

So actually, I got a working solution for myself. I open my Apple Music on my macbook pro and select the airplay on the top corner and select the homepod mini as the output. After that, the music from Apple music is not lagging. Then, use Safari to open the youtube video and select Airplay button on the right bottom of the video and select homepod mini and the source. After that the youtube video is not lagging any more.
