Like many, really disappointed with HomePod 2. I bought two - one for my bedroom and one for the kitchen. I’m unplugging both of them and going back to my Google Nest speakers.

There’s nothing wrong with the sound quality - the sound is amazing. Siri, however, is next to useless. I can deal with Siri on my iPhone, that’s fine, but it’s just too frustrating and lacking basic smarts on HomePod.

I’ve searched high and low and can’t find a way to adjust the volume for Siri’s voice, timers, and alarms. Won’t let you just gradually wake up, it’s full blast if it’s set to “tone”. Seems like a glaring oversight on Apple’s part. That should be really basic functionality.

I don’t know why Apple can’t get this right (?!). I knew what I was getting into when I bought these. I wanted that sound quality and thought I could deal with the lack of features & functionality compared to my Google Nest. Nope….

No Siri support for Spotify (I know, they are competitors, but I thought I’d be ok with it) … no Siri support for Sirius XM either! That one I don’t understand and it’s a deal breaker. Yeah, i know you can AirPlay to the speakers but hands free command is a lot easier.

Forget it, back to Google Nest speakers. 99% of the time, I feel you get what you pay for when you buy Apple products. I can’t say that for HomePod. Horrible value for what you get - or DON’T get.

You also might want to go to Accessibility in the HomePod settings (Home app) and slide the 'Automatically Adjust Siri Volume" toggle to off - That should prevent the HomePod from changing your setting later.

I’ll try it, thank you! 👍🏽

Hope it helps - My Siri stays steady on volume after disabling that auto-adjust in the HP settings.

Agree with your frustration about the other shortcomings you listed, although Apple will claim that Spotify is to blame for lack of HomePod support and the ball is in their court.

I opted for Apple mostly because of the privacy, which I felt was a little more of a priority for them than Amazon and Google. I don't feel Apple has advanced Siri all that much since it was announced with the 4S(?) and in many ways, it feels like they've lost the edge as a result. So many HomePod buyer regrets seem to have Siri as a factor in the background. It's a shame.

Thanks for posting that suggestion, I never knew that was an option & went I went to my HomePod settings, I discovered that it was on & toggled it off!

I think this will make a big difference for me!
