Overpriced, maybe. But why do you say it is "garbage"?
Because it sounds on forums. I think for just the sound quality and processing alone this price is ok. Siri is, well still Siri. It is amazing how well it picks up Siri commands even with loud music playing.

My Homepods (both picked up at $249) are the best investments I have picked up recently! Are the overpriced... at $349... definitely, at $299... yes, at $249... no way! If I could get them cheaper I would own more than two. Still, I love this product... music sounds amazing!

It really is too bad that only US BestBuy has been running these promos. I love my HomePod in the living room and have been looking to expand into other rooms if the price is right. I haven't found any deal, other than open box, saving just $20 bucks off the Apple Store price. If I could get them at $300 Canadian, I'd buy two more.

Bought one at launch and returned it so no that’s not it.
I bought one at launch too. I liked the sound (for the unit's size) but really disliked its obvious issues. Price was one, the other its Apple-Music dependency. So I returned it and went with other airplay gear instead.

Since then, I've succumbed to the lure of Apple Music (family sub) and like it a lot. A lot.

So at $250 I was tempted and bought two 'Pods recently. The bathrooms never sounded better! Practically everything I have is HomeKit enabled, so it all works seamlessly.

$200 at Target right now. How many do I want....
[doublepost=1561746665][/doublepost]Also, for those that think it's garbage... to each his/her own. Can't tell anyone else what to value.

For myself? Yeah I snagged a few back in November during a black friday sale. First listen was disappointing-- but I didn't realize I needed to let the Homepods do their processing to adjust to their location.

Now? I love them more every time I listen to them. Purely as speakers, they are an impressive feat of engineering. No sweet spots, ridiculous base for the size... these are my favorite gadget in a long time. I'm now listening to more music and enjoying music more than I have in a while.

Now that their price is back to 300 that was likely overstock of a loss-leader product (for best buy).

That only indicates how poorly Best Buy is at looking at a product and its market segment vs their clientele. Apple customers don't have Best Buy first on their list. High end speaker buyers don't have Best Buy first on their list.

While its great for people that saved 50 buck it doesn't indicate a future version anymore than me selling mine HomePods does.

If you are considering a HomePod and see a deal less then what is listed on Apples page then jump on it.

No need to show respect to someone that is intentionally being disrespectful. I'm right there with you but "garbage" and nothing else add is troll bait and should just be ignored.

That "sweet spot" or the hot spot generally created with a standard speaker is my favorite thing about the HomePod. I constantly feel its too loud but its not, its just very even across the room.

Indeed. I read today that Apple is launching the HomePod in Japan soon. Why would they do that if the HomePod 2 were imminent?

Also, in another thread discussing whether sale prices on iPad Pros meant anything (such as moving inventory to make way for new models), it was pointed out that Apple has moved in recent years to a different pricing strategy where they can set a higher price and then entice people with discounts, rather than having really rigid pricing like they have traditionally done. (Yes, Apple rarely has sales, still— but they can certainly leave room for third party retailers to offer discounts.)

This is something I love about the homepod as well! The sound output for such a small device is incredible.
