HomePod HomePod and iOS EQ Presets don’t work

Can anyone confirm that the iOS Music EQ settings don’t work with HomePod anymore?

I know they used to work, because I could reduce the bass and hear the difference. Now (maybe for a long time) they don’t work. Even with changing settings and restarting everything.

They never worked. HomePod is self-tuned and occasionally gets tweaked in iOS updates.

I’m sure it worked before. When HomePod came out I used audio test tracks and adjusted the EQ and it definitely worked. Now I use the same test tracks and it doesn’t work.
