That's kind of funny, based on your username. Either way, that's how Apple has long operated with many products. They rarely invent products. They streamline and simply, making better products.

I went to apple store & tested it out but didn’t feel like buying it. Not because of price just because these kind of products already in market for many years now. I don’t like apple’s attitude now that they don’t want to release their product before the competition. They want to build better products so delay the release. Even HomePod has released later Siri didn’t got improved.

So to understand your thought process, you went and saw the HP, but chose not to buy it bceause apple wasn't the first out of the gate? You also don't like their attitude of wanting to build a better product 😕

Yes, Siri is inferior to Alexia (or is it alexa), no question, but for the same size, the speak is better imo, then the Echo or Google Home. There seems to be abit of contradictary reviews regarding the Sonos. Some people say its better, others say the HP is better.

In the end, you need to find the best product that fits your needs. If you think the Sonos is a better speaker then get it, but I'm not sure I understand the justification not to buy it because apple wasn't the first out of the gate with this.

I will say that Amazon caught both Apple and Google flat footed with the Echo, so they were not out of the gate first because they failed to see the genius in having a smart speaker, its simple as that, but once they chose to roll one out, I think technology wise, its extremely advanced. Now to get Siri improved

I think having things dropped at the front door is preferable to 1.Driving in traffic, 2.Finding, and perhaps paying for, parking,
3. Waiting around in the Store for assistance, 4. Schlepping packages back to the aforementioned parking spot, 5.Driving back home in traffic, and 6. Carrying the packages into the house from the car. Meanwhile, I've wasted at least half a day, wasted money on a sandwich and coffee, and paid 7% tax that isn't charged by an out of state retailer. Shopping online is one of the few times that convenience can be less expensive.....provided you know exactly what you want.

And why Amazon Prime is a no brainer for me.
Even if I place a $5 an hour on my time, it would take but 2 months to pay myself back.

Call me old-fashioned, but I am all about instant-gratification and prefer to get my Apple products in person at a store. I enjoy the experience of buying something for myself. If I can get something the same day, there is no question I'm getting in my car and driving to the store. If I can't find something locally, then it gets ordered (waiting is not an activity I enjoy though).

I'm in the same boat. I love going to stores and picking something up, especially if it's a long awaited product. Experience is totally different than just waiting for a nondescript box to get dropped off on your doorstep.

Totally agree.. There's something fun and exciting about it that a doorstep arrival is missing a bit, at least for me.

Me too - you get the anticipation of going to the store, making the purchase and then the anticipation before getting it back home to unbox and set up. Deliveries are convenient, but you do lose a bit of that.

What about the excitement of staring out of the window waiting for the UPS guy to show up?? Or better yet, tracking the UPS driver location with the UPS My Choice app. I once had a UPS driver circle my neighborhood, and then make his way to the next neighborhood before he came back to deliver my package. Was close to hopping in my car and chasing him down haha.

All jokes aside, I always look for an excuse to go to my local Apple store and play with all the shiney toys and I want but don't really need since my existing gear works perfectly fine.

I usually decide to buy in store vs online based on where I can get the best price.

As exciting as it is to constantly hit refresh on that UPS tracking number, my biggest issue with delivery is actually not waiting. I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling in my belly when I think about my expensive and fragile Apple product tumbling around that truck with other boxes piled on top of it and then being thrown out onto a cart. I know the HomePod was packaged beautifully and insulated really well for example, but I've seen some UPS delivery guys that were having a bad day and needed to take it out on the boxes.

No disrespect, but just wondering how you think the Homepod gets to the Apple Store?

I usually order online but have it delivered to the local Apple store, or in the case of in-stock items they just reserve me one. Problem with delivery is most of the time they require a signature.....sucks if you aren't home at the time.

I know. It's a delusional argument, but I feel a strange sort of security in grabbing it from that point and transporting it myself and not expecting a delivery person to treat it with care like I would
