I was given the now discontinued Apple HomePod (maxi) that does not work.

It does nothing, and the reset tricks I found did not help.
When I plug it in I hear a snap of a power, but about the only thing that tells me is the fuse not burnt.

And then there is the disassembly.

So, it will be a major pain to disassemble, and then good luck finding parts, IF I can figure out what is wrong.

3 options:
1. Give it to someone who has time to mess with it
2. Pull the big speaker and chuck rest
3. or just chuck (Best Buy recycle)

(oops, I missed the HomePost section first time I was looking. Mod, please move)

Repairs cost as much a new one (go figure)
and it is discontinued.
yep! ridiculous! actually the "repair" or replacement was MORE than I would pay for a new one since I get the 10% veteran's discount (and worse.... I only paid $199 at BB when I bought them!

terrible that just over a year one of them stopped working.

I replaced the broken one with a mini....

When I called Apple with a problem like this, they offered me a free replacement despite being out of warranty (in addition, I bought the HomePod on eBay). Maybe you'll get lucky with a call or online chat.
