HomePod HomePod calls

Hi,

I wonder if it is now possible with HomePod to make calls but without actually touching your phone? I.e. phone is away from you and you say „Hey Siri call mom on HomePod” then this call start from HomePod.

Does it work also with answering calls? So phone is away from you and say „Hey Siri answer call on HomePod” and call is answered on HomePod?

If this is possible what if in the room there are two iPhone owners and one wants to make a call using HomePod? Lets say both have a contact named Mom. How HomePod will know from which phone/number call Mom? Will it call persons Mom based on voice recognition and not allow to call my Mom for other people in the room?

Yes you can make an outgoing call on the HomePod without touching the phone but I haven’t figured how or even if you can answer using just the HomePod since it doesn’t actually ring. I’ve been answering on my phone then routing it to the HomePod from the call screen.
The new HomePod update allows multi user support with voice recognition so each person will have their own HomePod experience. Haven’t tried with calls but it does work with time to work, calendar events and music so I don’t see why it shouldn’t work with making an outgoing call using the persons voice and their own contact list.

I haven’t had any issues making outgoing calls but I have to ask, how do you answer calls on the HomePod?

Anyone having trouble making outgoing calls? I can accept calls, but my calls that I initiate always fail.

I have no idea if this is the reason but on my iMac I was having this trouble. Turned out I had both WiFi turned on and an ethernet cable plugged in. Once I turned off WiFi calls started working again.
