This is certainly not a product Apple is giving up on. Expanding reach, frequent updates with new features, integration with Siri Shortcuts that continually give it new capabilities, an accumulating user base.
Apple isn’t giving up on HomePod anymore than they gave up on the AppleTV when it was a niche product. It was a foundation on which Apple is building on through software updates.
It’s still only a little over year old and has already received 3 major updates. If anything, they’re dedicated to it.
Eventually, the critics will end up in the same place as those who said the Apple Watch was a failure. Curiously, you never hear from those people again.
Why is this thing not available everywhere already? It's not like Siri actually works anyway...
No line in, no deal.
Can you explain more how Siri doesn’t work? Siri works great on mine, set up as a stereo pair in my office. I don’t use Spotify but any other streaming service I use (Radio.com and SiriusXM) work fine streaming to them via Airplay.I've got one and honestly I don't use it much. If it had built-in Spotify/Bluetooth, or if Siri actually worked—it'd be useful.
Does anyone use this thing really?
I sure wish they'd freakin' launch one with an EQ in the US so I could replace my Sonos...
(Aside from those trash presets nested in Settings.)

I have two. I love them. I’m going to get a 3rd.Does anyone use this thing really?
Yes. I have two. They sound great in my living room and they’re more than capable for the admittedly few scenarios where I actually want to use voice commands to perform tasks.Does anyone use this thing really?
Well the hardware is top notch. Anything else lacking can always be fixed with a software update. This is certainly not a product Apple is giving up on. EQ, what for? Why not listen to the final mixed track as is?
For a basic stereo audio system, is $600 to $700 (for two of them) a bit steep? I really have no idea, but was considering buying two to use as speakers for my Apple TV.Yes. single HomePod and stereo home pods. Stereo is a good audio experience for those wanting to get into a basic audio system. Its amazing they can take what would generally be multiple components and run them through a single processor. Im not sayings it better or worse then needing multiple components but its a different experience.
EQ, what for? Why not listen to the final mixed track as is?
It does, its called AirPlay
Or Ireland! And still not New Zealand. Makes no sense.

We use the stereo pair in the kitchen every day.
