Strange Date. Why not announce it at their conference in a week?

Use a Silicon Valley technical conference to announce that an existing product is finally shipping outside the USA? Yeah, that would make sense...

I'm just here to say how happy I am about that Oxford comma in the article title.

And I say, without sarcasm this time, that you have your priorities in order.

Could maybe zip over to germany to buy the HomePod then. Siri probably works as well as it does on Apple TV so I guess it wont be worth it..

'Integrate with Sonos'? I'll through out my Sonos as soon as I get my HomePod!

Still not sure, if I should sell my Sonos and get the HomePod. Im totally invested in the Apple Ecosystem, but I do listen to quite a bit of radio and soundcloud through my Sonos...

Well I already have two HomePods, but somehow this announcement just caused me to lose another $700. Ugh...

Okay, I’m a newbie to this particular tech. Can anyone tell me or provide a link to explain why one would buy this, other than to add an extra speaker to your ensemble? Is there anything at all compelling about the “smart”component? Does it do anything other than what Siri can provide on your iPhone or iPad or ATV?

Ok, can somebody explain me the language/region compatibilities of the HomePod?

I live in Germany since 2 years, but I'm Italian and I still have my Apple account set to Italy (mostly because it originated there and I share my Apple Music, iCloud space,... with family members in Italy).

On iPhone/iPad/Mac/Watch I have the region set to Italy (but that can be changed without serious problems I think) and I have Siri set to Italian (but I would not have problem with an English Siri, a bit more with a German Siri).

If I bought an Home Pod here in Germany: 1) would it work without having to change anything in my Apple account or devices? 2) would the "Siri in English or German not Italian" be the only issue?

Thanks for any answer to this

Finally Homepods (French and German) with a plug compatible with continental Europe electrical sockets, so lots of people will be able to import them off ebay. (for Airplay mostly, of course not Siri if not localized)

I have US version also. Should work with US hardware version, right? Assuming difference is only regional support. Hope so.

No different than buying an iPhone in the US. The difference is in software. Actually, the software is the same, it’s really just different settings. I’ll be able to set my iPhone’s English back to Canada. Right now, I have it set to US so it can work with HomePod.

Siri works fine. I have had a HomePod in Canada with no official support. Works perfectly.

lololololol and they think Canadians are going to pay a +$100 premium for their Siri enable speaker that can't do much other than play music and dim the lights? Dream on...

Are you able to use Siri in English or German on your phone right now? (I think you should be – English-language Siri on a German Apple ID works fine, so I'd wager it'd be the same for your setup.) If that works, I think it should work with HomePod, too. You might run into trouble with the proper pronunciation of Italian names and song titles, of course.

Wow, that's unusual: The Euro price is pretty much exactly the US price plus German VAT. Normally, Apple charges a little bit of a premium on top of that.

Yes but I guess as the sales of HomePod is not running very well, they decided to keep the price in Europe „low“

I had imported two HomePod from the us and Siri’s was until today English, the rest of my apple hardware in German.. worked very well.

Yes I can put Siri to whatever language is available. I was more concerned about the nationality of the Apple ID regarding Apple Music and so on, but it seems there are no issues.

The homepod is useless at this state of development.

Nobody would buy an iPhone if you could only call other iPhones with it.

Why should people buy a speaker for Apple Music only? Other services will just work when you waste your phones battery for casting the stream.

They should fix this immediately or the pod will be tge biggest flop in Apples history.

450$ in Canada? Good luck. The Google home Max is 50$ cheaper. Heck my Google Home mini was 90$ and doesn't sound too bad for its size and cost TBH.

Honestly I don't know if its a Canadian thing, but I know a lot of "techy" people, and if I include myself then 3 out of around 20 people even own a "smart" speaker, and even then, my friend and I just bought the Google Home Mini, while only 1 bought the full size Google home.

I feel like trying to sell a 450$ speaker here is going to be difficult.

The Apple Watch took forever to be available world wide, didn't hear gnashing then. They didn't promise the speaker worldwide at launch.
