HomePod HomePod - Lower Siri’s Voice?

Hey all,

So I just picked up the HomePod! Only had it for about an hour, but the sound is great. Set up was quick & easy & im enjoying it so far.

However, Siri’s voice is pretty loud. Is there any way to lower it? I went to the HomePod in the Home app, but I don’t see any options?

Is this possible? Thanks

I thought I read that you can ask Siri to lower her volume. Maybe not.

You just ask her to set her volume to a certain percentage. In my experience though, when you increase the volume of music, it then increases the volume of her voice again

There is currently no way to change Siri's volume independently of music . Hopefully Apple's sees this as a big complaint and fixes it. I dont need Siri yelling at me late at night.

This should really be fixed in a software update soon. It's weird late at night in my apartment when I have music playing softly and I ask Siri a question or to change the music and her voice comes blaring loudly in a way that makes me nervous that I'm annoying my neighbors (apartment dweller). It is also the reason I wouldn't take it to work, as the music itself would be cool but Siri's bullhorn voice would be an annoyance to others.

I agree....I'm on day 2 & I like it, but the Siri voice is too much. I'm in an apartment as well, & I just feel slightly uncomfortable with the volume. Yesterday at night, I just airplayed music from my iPad....

I feel like that defeats the purpose, so today I started using "hey Siri"....Still loud, but I feel during the day it isn't as bad.

I also tried asking Siri to lower her voice, but it didn't seem to work for me. I'll try it again, but hopefully they fix this & offer options in a soft ware update. Or even the option of Siri not speaking (like in apple watch series 0), but as long as I can control the volume, I'd be happy.

Yeah, unless she's answering a question I don't really need "Sure thing, now playing The Idler Wheel is Wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do by Fiona Apple" when I ask to play an album. Just let the music start. Lol.

Don’t hold your breath. The Apple Watch 3 and Siri have a similar issue - but in reverse. The volume of Siri is too low when used without the iPhone being present and there’s no way to change it. The issue was logged with Support last September, and still has not been fixed.

That can get annoying. A simple, straightforward, Ok would suffice.

That's possible....& I'd be fine with it if the voice could be lower, lol.

When I say skip, there's no confirmation & it seems fairly seamless. I guess I would prefer that.

Overall I'm adjusting to the voice.....beyond that, I really like it & I i'm pretty sure I'll end up keeping it.

Too late, one of the reasons I returned it. Even so it cannot decipher what I ask to play a high percentage of the time. That is another reason why I dumped it. And I guess I am not ready for volume to be changed with a voice command to tell the truth. Another member said you could your source device to do it and I guess that did not outweigh the other issues I had with the HP including price.

I just say Hey Siri, reduce volume to 20% or whatever level I want and it works without issue. Sometimes my HomePod is set too low and I can't hear Siri especially in other rooms.

That will only reduce HomePod's music volume not Siri's voice volume.

While playing music saying “set your voice” or “set your volume” to X percent just turns down the overall volume of everything. The point of this thread is that Siri’s voice is too loud , about 20 percent louder than music no matter what. It’s very annoying late at night when playing music at a low volume and Siri sounds like she’s yelling in comparison when invoked.

I got that day 1 and returned the homepod afterwards as that was one of the reasons for doing so.

Some of my own playlists I add a couple of "***" at the front of my playlist name so I can differentiate between my playlists and Apple's playlists (and to move my playlists to the top of the list). When I asked Siri to play one of my playlists she would repeat the playlist name but censor/beep the "***" part so it sounds like she's swearing....hilarious!!!!
