HomePod mini pre-orders are beginning to ship to customers around the world ahead of the speaker's launch next week.

While many orders remain in the "Processing" or "Preparing to Ship" stages in the United States, one MacRumors reader in Germany shared a screenshot of his HomePod mini marked as shipped on Apple's online store, with estimated November 17 delivery. HomePod mini orders are also starting to ship in Japan, some with November 16 delivery.

HomePod mini will be available starting the week of November 16 in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Spain, and the United Kingdom, according to Apple. Pre-orders began November 6.

HomePod mini will also be available in Mexico, China, and Taiwan starting later this year.

Priced at $99, the HomePod mini is a smaller version of the HomePod with many of the same features, including Siri, HomeKit, Apple Music, Intercom voice messaging, and stereo pairing. Many reviewers have been impressed by the speaker's sound quality.

All this is great. But do they work better than the first-gen HomePods I have now?

Which is precisely why I use Apple rather than Google or Amazon.
To be fair, it took a whistleblower to disclose that Apple had a whole floor of human contractors listening to failed Siri interactions voice recordings.

That's why Apple now asks you if you want to share diagnostic voice recordings with them because before they gave you no choice.

That was highly shady and broke my trust with Apple. I take what they say with a grain of salt these days.

I totally get that, but at least the recordings were anonymized. Google and Amazon save recordings indefinitely and keep them linked to your account.

Mine's been preparing to ship since today afternoon. Hoping it would ship ASAP. But if it's shipping from one of the local warehouses in the States, I would wait till it's tomorrow morning until it gets shipped lol.

How is that convenient? Apple and most other tech manufacturers do not include the power cord in product photos.

My opinion, but Apple markets HomePods as omnidirectional speakers. In advertising they show them sitting in the center of a room and/or the center of a table. They look great! In reality, you're going to put them along the edge of a room like every other device you own.

I'm a grumpy old man. Ignore me.

I like that all promo photos conveniently omit the UNSIGHTLY CORD.
I know. A bit hard to complain at the price point considering apples costs, but what disappoints me the most is that it isn’t Mobile. ie - on a charging ring that allows it to be picked up and moved through the house. Nope. Attached with a plug to a wall.

I suppose allowing it to be mobile may be an issue with the software setup as they expect it to be in one room for intercom, home integration etc, but I still think portability would have been nice.

I already have to live with enough spy devices, I can hold off on one more.
Btw, you can explicitly deactivate your Siri protocols being scanned remotely via settings. If you than get rid of your Google/Alexa stuff, you’re home alone again.

Mine still says processing here in Australia. Delivers between Nov 24 and Dec 1st. I preordered mine around 5 minutes after midnight on preorder night.

Meanwhile, Apple will unveil the HomePod 2 with USB-C, U1 chip and a new price for next spring.
