Nope. Internally, Apple does everything it can to keep your collected data not associated to your account. Unless of course you give them the permission to do otherwise.
Well, internally they also decided to do this though: https://sneak.berlin/20201112/your-computer-isnt-yours/

Don‘t get me wrong, I like Apple‘s products and am heavily invested in their ecosystem, but I don‘t believe one bit of their privacy pr bs and nor should you or anyone else.

To be fair, it took a whistleblower to disclose that Apple had a whole floor of human contractors listening to failed Siri interactions voice recordings.

That's why Apple now asks you if you want to share diagnostic voice recordings with them because before they gave you no choice.

That was highly shady and broke my trust with Apple. I take what they say with a grain of salt these days.

I will have to find the Apple source document for you, but there was a clear Siri statement from the very beginning of the privacy emphasis (well before the whistle blower) clearly stating that Apple could keep and analyze recordings to improve the HomePod and Siri experience. It’s all disassociated with your Apple ID as well. They’ve gotten better by adding even more privacy options after the complaint; but that whole news run was severely overblown for Apple. But I agree that more clarity and transparency is always a good thing. ☝🏻🧐

I've got no interest in Apple Music as I have an extensive collection, so can I use this speaker to stream my music and play it? That's all I'd be interested in it for to be honest.

Says nope, then immediately contradict yourself by accepting they do store data. Ok.

Let's be honest here, you have absolutely no way of backing up your assertion that they do "everything they can".

If they did then they wouldn't be getting Big Sur to be calling home or would at the very least been up front about it.

I have the original HomePod and tempted to order one as they do look really good for the size. Issue is my current HomePod refuses to know who my wife’s voice is...so much for being able to know 6 different voices.

maybe the HomePod is just defected but even after updates it’s still not doing it.

Have you turned on that setting?

It’s an airplay device, so as long as your music is on your phone, iPad or Mac you’ll be able to stream it to the HomePod.

When was the last time you checked? Mine wouldn’t work at all either for my wife, but magically started a few weeks ago.

Yesterday and when we updated to 14.2. Even when she went through personal requests and got Siri to know her voice simply doesn’t work on the main HomePod. Certainly no point picking one up if it doesn’t work on the new mini but i guess it should do.

can't wait to get mine, been holding off on a smart speaker but I couldn't resist the mini. I'm curious how Siri shortcuts integrate.

I know. A bit hard to complain at the price point considering apples costs, but what disappoints me the most is that it isn’t Mobile. ie - on a charging ring that allows it to be picked up and moved through the house. Nope. Attached with a plug to a wall.

I suppose allowing it to be mobile may be an issue with the software setup as they expect it to be in one room for intercom, home integration etc, but I still think portability would have been nice.
Isn’t that what a beats pill+ does?

Of course there is no way of backing up that claim, just like you cannot back up that they don’t. If you are not aware, if you have access to the information, you can be legally required to provide it. If you don’t have access, you state you don’t have access and provide company policy to back up that claim. It is a lot easier to not have access to or collect data then to cover it up. you could only cover up for so long if untrue. While they may or may not be doing “everything they can” is irrelevant. The fact is, Apple doesn’t maintain much personal information on their customers. If they had it, they would have been required by US law to provide this information when legally requested by the government. You know by what they are ’able‘ to provide is what they have. They very likely could do more, but they are far from others like Google.

I hate this Pandemic everything is sold out and Apple.com shows December as the earliest ship date with no in store pickup. I do not know why this company cannot simply announce a product at a keynote and sell it the same day instead of doing these odd release dates. Sorry for sounding salty it's just that EVERYTHING seems to always be sold out EVERYWHERE.

I ordered the Mac and Mini first (each iUp), and then cam back within the first 10 minutes to order the HomePod Mini and my ship date is Wednesday so those things were moving! I think this will be much more popular than HomePod. The years of software updates combined with new features like tap to transfer and intercom along with a lower price will allow Apple to finally gain some traction in this crowded market. I think to be able to buy someone a brand new Apple device that’s actually quite nice for only $99 will make it a popular gift this year.

My two are on their way and due to be shipped tomorrow.

One white and one black. Being delivered by the Royal Mail and according to their website the my have them so all good for tomorrow!

UK, by the way.
