Apple today received approval to sell the HomePod mini in Malaysia, according to a local regulatory filing uncovered by Xavier Naxa.

It's unclear when the HomePod mini will be available in Malaysia, but sales will presumably begin on Apple's online store there within the next few months. Apple has yet to receive approval to sell the full-size second-generation HomePod in the country.

Apple first released the HomePod mini in October 2020 in the U.S., and it is now sold in around 25 countries. New color options were added in November 2021, and the speaker's previously-unused temperature and humidity sensor was activated last year.

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year said mass shipments of a second-generation ‌HomePod mini‌ would begin in the second half of 2024.

Someone smart, please help me. Why has the rollout of these taken so long? I realize that phones are beholden to different regulations in different countries, and that can lead to delays. I understand that if there is stock constraints, that affects rollout. But why this smart speaker and why soooo long?

Good to see its availability expand. Wonder why Apple is taking a long time to release it in certain markets.

I just bought two more, creating my first couple of stereo pairs, which sound so much better. This could mean I’ll have the latest model for a good while yet…

Good lord.

There’s a rumour Malaysia will be receiving its first Apple Store somewhere in Feb. Maybe thats why… lol.

i believe that it is due to several factors like language support or sales and support readiness from Apple, etc. Even in South Korea where I am, HomePods are not available from Apple Stores and Siri doesn't support Korean on HomePods as yet.
