It’s having problems outputting sound as tv speakers right now so I wouldn’t count on it.

I tried this a few lockdown months ago. It was so laggy as to be unusable. This was with video though, haven't tried it voice-only. AFAIK HomePod mics cannot be used.

Was planning to use this for my conference calls as well. Disappointed to find out it pretty much won't work. Don't understand why they don't enable connection to mac via bluetooth so you can use the speaker & mic for conference calls. Only connecting via Airplay is really restrictive and totally dependent on your wireless network. In my case - the wireless network is a little spotty in the part of the house where my office is, so even listening to music via Spotify has cut out a few times already in the short time I've been using it. Bummer.

How is the audio if you use the homepod mini as speakers for the mac via airplay 2? Is it laggy and out of sync for videos?

I watched a few youtube videos and there is a definite lag between the audio and video. It's probably less than a second so if you're not watching too closely, it might be okay
