HomePod HomePod mini in Stereo suddenly turns off and on again during Playing Music

Hey everyone,

I have two HomePod mini which are paired as Stereo.
I noticed that often one of it turns off for a few seconds and turns on again automatically. This applies to both of them (sometimes it's the "right" one and sometimes the "left" one). The source of Music doesn't matter (tried it out with Spotify, Apple Music and Radio through Siri).
This happened with several versions of iOS 14 and iOS 15 too. It might have been gotten better with iOS 15 but still happens.

Does anyone else have the problem? Is it Software or Hardware?

Since the problem affects both, I would say the most likely cause is the WiFi network not performing up to expectations. Distance from the access point, channel congestion and the number of devices attached can all affect performance - and of course not all WiFi routers/access points are created equal. Some perform worse than others.

Since the update to 15 I have the same problem with my HomePods, but I get a load pop then one of them will go quiet and sometimes come back and sometimes not. I have a stereo pair and one on its own, all are affected.

same for me on the HomePod minis on 15.0

I have an AmpliFi Alien router

I also have a volume control issue.

Try and see if u guys are experiencing it

airplay and try to control the volume from your iPhone. If it works restart the minis and again try to airplay and adjust the volume... it won't let you. At least for me I couldn't. The only fix to get it working is to seperate them and re-pair them as stereo but again a restart will break it.

Since recent updates my stereo HomePod mini are a complete mess, often out of sync sometimes just one playing, sometimes forgetting timers etc. I was a fan of the mini, but now think that they are just a waste of money. The original HomePods are still great and sound so much better.
