It’s always that way for U.K. preorders from Apple... only custom build Mac’s tend to ship from China, and rarely even then.

Yeah it's mainly because the stock has to bounce through a couple of countries between China & the UK. Then they get stored in a warehouse in Hinkley for a day or 2 before shipping across the UK to customers on release date.
It probably came in with all of Apple's stock, to Hinckley, same as all their other stuff, like the iPhones.
Do you have an account with DHL? I haven't got the text, but can see it on the tracking that DHL have received.
Yes, Syncreon handle most Apple launches for the UK stock that's in country pre-launch.
I’m preparing to ship but have nothing in fedex or UPS yet.
Lucky you! I ordered within a minute of HomePod minis going live on the Apple Store and paid for Express Delivery, yet I am still in Preparing to Ship on Apple Store and no evidence of anything in FedEx Delivery Manager. Frustrating to say the least. Big problem from my standpoint is that a delivery on Wed would be a real logistical problem for me. I just hope it gets here before then, especially since I paid for Express service. Sigh.
I was late to the game and didn't order until an hour after pre-orders went live. Email says 19th-24th so I am fairly confident it will ship on Wednesday.
I ordered from Currys, still no update. However they felt the need to send me an email stating "Congrats on your new tech. We hope you're loving it". Can't even track an order on their site, only once a delivery has been scheduled.
My HomePod minis shipped this afternoon, I ordered directly from Apple and the delivery should be Thursday.
Where about’s are you in the UK? I’m in Milton Keynes and mine are still preparing to ship so no chance of today / Tuesday as I chose postal delivery.
I bought 5 mins after the store was back up, with est delivery 17-19.
If you click on the Delivery ref... does it show both with the same date if you ordered 2?
with mine, one shows 17th and the other 19th.
chatted with Apple and they were able to give me 2 tracking numbers. Both within 2 mins of each other but different delivery dates on Apples delivery info page.
