Been almost 24 hours and it’s stuck on downloading (15.2 update). Out of 13 total HomePods, mix of Minis and OGs, this is the only one.

Safe to reboot while it’s downloading? I’d be more hesitant if it was an irreplaceable OG though.

Having the same issue - I thought I had auto updates turned off but one of my Minis is now stuck on “downloading” all day.

Apple Music suddenly doesn’t work on it but I can still use it for commands and HomeKit …

Dare I risk a reset?

I believe the auto update is only for installing updates, not downloading them. I have auto turned off as well.

I just unplugged for a about a minute, plugged back in and it downloaded the update a little while after.

I bought two new HomePod minis on Friday. Set both up the same day. First one updated normally. The second one took about 2 hours. It also seemed to get stuck on the downloading part for about 1 hours 50 mins. I didn’t intervene because I was doing other things. It installed in about 10 minutes so about 2 hours in total. I have 6 minis in total and the first 5 updated normally with no issues. It was the last one that seemed to get stuck.

I gambled and unplugged it and then did a reset on the App and it finally updated.

Everything seems to be working so far, despite the horror stories about 15.2.

I’m up to 24 hours now …

Yet when I bought and installed the mini the first time setup was pretty much instant. What has Apple messed up with their latest updates?
I had the configuring issue too with a HomePod Mini back on iOS 14, early this year. It was reported a few times. For that, I recall I had to restore to factory settings and start over. Apple software has been a nightmare for the past few years.

UPDATE: I solved it

I saw a mention on Twitter about routers. I have an Asus but had QOS enabled which priorities tasks and applications.

The mention said to turn it off then try adding the HP Mini.

Worked flawlessly!

Glad to hear. The HomePods are great… when they work.
