So I bought the mini last week. It plays fine sometimes but then others it just stops and goes to the phone. When I restart then both the phone and HomePod are playing. It has done it several times now. Is this a network issue I’m having. I’m sure it’s not this bad but it’s starting to irritate me

I have not experience that with my homepod mini however I wonder if you issue maybe with the handoff feature of taking a song that is playing on your iPhone and moving it to the pod?

how are you playing the music?

on your phone and airplaying to the HomePod?
on your hompod?

they look and sound almost the same, but they're handled differently.

also where is your phone when it transfers, if it's close to the hompod, it might be using handoff on it's own. Try leaving the phone at least a couple feet from the hompod.

it could be a network issue, especially since it drops out. Have you rebooted your router? or maybe try moving the router or hompod if it's in a place with poor wifi.

That must be the issue. I was sitting close the home pod reading. I’ll try a little further away.

I usually tell Siri to play music and it goes through the home pod
