Just had my HomePod Mini delivered, and I cannot get it set up, I'm getting the 'Wi-Fi Incompatible' message. I've tried all the suggestions on forums, i.e. turned off Auto-Join and Auto-Login. I have a regular Homepod running just fine, and I've made sure it's connected to the same network etc. Tried restarting my router and the Mini, absolutely nothing is helping. I'm running the iOS 14.3 Beta, wondering if that's the problem. Is anyone else having this difficulty?

Oh interesting. Just did some quick research - looks like the HomePod mini only supports 802.11n Wi-Fi. I just assumed it would support AC similar to the HomePod Biggy. Does your WiFi have both 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios broadcasting the same SSID (one wireless network that allows switching between both radios) or do you have 2 networks (one for 2.4GHz range, and one for 5GHz range)?

*update*
Ok it seems as if the Mini doesn't like Wi-fi Network names with a space in them. I changed my Wi-fi network SSID and removed the space from it, and the Mini connected perfectly. Strange as the original HomePod had no problem with that!

I wonder why it’s not Wireless 6 compatible. But then again they wanted to keep the price down.

Surely the cost to make it at least 5ghz capable would have been a minuscule amount in production costs.
You’d think Apple would have tried to use the same WiFi parts as the original HomePod seeing as they already use/have the parts.

To clarify, just because it doesn’t support 802.11AC doesn’t mean it’s incompatible with 5 GHz networks. 802.11n also includes support for 5GHz network, just without the beam-forming properties of AC :)

I had the same issue with a network that worked great with the original HomePod.

Called Apple support and they had me reset network settings. I didn’t expect it to do anything but it totally worked!
