One singe HomePod? I would buy two Sonos one’s in stereo which I have upstairs. Two HomePods are better, but than there’s the added cost. I have two Homepods paired in the living room and they do sound very good, far better all round than a singe unit.

Siri can now speak Canadian English? I had no idea there was such a thing. Does it say sorry a lot and add "eh?" to the end of sentences? (joke)

Surely Siri could just speak English and leave it at that.

I would love to, but as long as I am fenced in the actual restrictions - no way...
As soon, as it plays TuneIn without the need to stream from my phone, I will visit the next Apple Store.
I don't understand, why there is no decent support for that - just like Sonos for example.

For now, it is nothing but an expensive dust collector for me.

HomePod sounds great except for the max volume which is too low. I have one connected to my Apple TV and usually it's fine, but it can be frustrating watching films/TV shows with a poor soundtrack because I have no way to turn up the audio any higher.

I have two in stereo paired to an Apple TV 4k and it sounds much better..but I agree if it’s possible the next updates for HomePod and ATV should include better volume.

Hopefully it will come to the Netherlands soon as well.

I would really like the ability to hook up my TV or setup box (cable) to the homepods directly or via an (updated) apple-TV. Otherwise the content that comes in to the living room via the setup box of the TV will not be avialable.

I don't really foresee a cheaper HomePod. Honestly for the hardware it is already cheap (eight amplifiers and matched drivers!). I do think a Siri-enabled beats speaker would be a smart addition as would a bigger, and more expensive/louder HomePod. Given the interest in using existing HomePod paired with an Apple TV I think a HomePod-esque sound bar that had an Atmos cinema mode (for beam-forming surround sound) and a full-room music mode (like what HomePod current does) would be really cool (especially if they integrate an Apple TV 4K). Might be too niche.

So, no way to listen to METALLICA loud and to shock my neighbors, right?

I would hear my music via AirPlay 2 does it work via Siri on HomePod or not?

"While the HomePod has received rave reviews about its sound quality, critics believe the speaker has exposed Siri's shortcomings."

Truth is that the HomePod has revealed the silliness of critics spreading the myth that there is some huge gap between the HomePod and other smart speakers. Surveys show that Siri on the HomePod can already do the vast majority of things people use their smart speakers for: Number 1 thing people use their speakers for, ready? Listen to music. LOL. The number one thing people use their speakers for is something that HomePod blows the competition away with.

Then what are the rest of things people do the vast majority of times with their smart speakers? Number 2 is to check the weather, then things like check traffic, sports, and set a timer.

It turns out that that those 4000 "skills," , "like Fart for us," Alexa has, almost no one uses. Yet the HomePod will protect your privacy, unlike the others, and can hear your requests far better than the others.

A matching HomePod subwoofer wouldn't kill anybody either.

With Apple philosophy, I wouldn’t bet on Apple Subwoofer. Hell, we should be thankfull HomePod is not thinner and smaller than it is.

HomePod sounds amazing for its size, but not mind blowing or anything, I’ve heard and owned better speakers, and much better sound. HomePod sounds very generic, not bad, just generic.

Unlike some people who won’t touch or use any product that doesn’t have an Apple logo, I use both Siri and Google Assistant on a daily basis. From my actual experience Google Assistant is far superior to Siri and seems to improve almost daily the more I use it. It’s more accurate, more conversational, and more functional. Of course debating a person who thinks “If it has an Apple logo...it’s the best!” is almost impossible, but I have actual daily use experience with both products over a long term and Siri is behind. Sadly if Apple is listening to the people that say “It’s good enough” they will only get futher and futher behind. Being an enabler for their poor implementation of technology doesn’t really help the company long term.

You are right. Google is better in that field but Apple cares about data protection and privacy. YouTube and Google as a search engine, ok but nothing else.

HomePod is a huge hit in our house. The kids stand around it for hours and request random songs and dance.

Yet, Apple Music still doesn’t know the musical charts for Canada.

How is this possible? Asking to play top songs from a specific era was one of the hyped Apple Music features at launch and it worked perfectly for over a year.

Finally someone else in the world that doesn’t seem to get the hype of streaming services. I own the music I already like in iTunes, why should I pay monthly to maybe hear songs I like?
Careful, the anti-3.5mm mob will eventually turn on you with statements like that. Apparently new is always better than what was before and you must "get over it" if you don't agree.

I’ve been using one in Canada since it launched in February. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Big mix of Reminders, HomeKit and timers via Siri, and more recently really liking AirPlay 2 for music. Mine is in the kitchen, which is open through a large living room where there is an Apple TV. Playing music to both really fills the space nicely.

Coupe things I wish they would improve:

-making phone calls. I frequently attempt to make a phone call via Siri only to be told that it can’t do that. It knows obviously what I’m trying, but I resort to making a call from my phone and then changing the audio device to the HomePod.

-multiple timers. With how frequently this gets discussed / criticized online I’m surprised this hasn’t happened already

How would you keep track of multiple timers via HomePod on that display or via audio only? Would you prefer it enabled this yet forced you to give the alarms different names to keep track?

Sonos ... which one are you stating is stereo sound for a single unit? Hmmm.

I'm really glad for people like you because it allowed me to at least sell my limited edition Black Sonos Play:1 for half the cost on Kijiji; not without at least 10 hagglers whom could not read the word FIRM or local deals only. Even on PC with the controller app (OSX/Windows) sounds from the computer, or another application (youtube in browser, netflix app) could not directly play to the Sonos ... not without paying for a hardware to enable that. Therein lies the reason for the slightly extra cost, privacy vs Alexa on 'Sonos Play ONE', and 6 more tweeters/mids.

Said every Apply Watch critic for the first year. Now crickets. Understand that the HomePod has never had a holiday sales period. Just wait.

Critics still had their fun after the first year ... it wasn't until year 2 fully passed that sales sky rocketed ... S2 Nike+ I'm sure VERY much helped.

Since I can't find it on the Apple website which is strange for a high end speaker, what is the power consumption in standby mode? And more importantly what is the frequency range, frequency response, max spl output? And I don't see the back or bottom so what are the input options? Just wifi?
