I have noticed recently that my Homepod has a noticeable delay when asking Siri questions, and I consistently get "one second" or "one moment" or sometimes it has to restart its response.

Nothing in my home network has changed and I have 1GB bandwidth. Anyone else noticing this?

Absolutely. Turning down Hue lights, playing ”music I like”, anything I say to Siri via Homepod now is taking at least a second to register. No long ago, it was better than ever....now it feels like when Siri was first released.

If you are only waiting one second you are doing better than we are. We also have gigabit internet and can wait for 15-20 seconds of just a moment notices before it fails to do the most simple of tasks

So when do we take step backwards with updates? It used to respond much faster.

The HomePods and HomeKit have been in rough shape since 14.2 came out. The HomePods respond extremely slowly (if at all) to HomeKit commands and I can barely get handoff to work at all. Intercom works when sending to the whole home, but can’t send to individual rooms by voice command. Even manual airplay from my phone to a Homepod barely works.

For a while I was restoring my HomePods to factory settings frequently because it would help for a bit, but then they would slowly start failing again so I’ve given up on that. All I can hope for is that Apple knows about these problems and will fix things in the next iOS/Homepod OS update. Starting to lose hope because 14.2.1 and 14.3 did nothing to help.

Can anyone get Siri to fetch the weather on the HomePod minis? I have a stereo setup and it says “one sec” and then a few seconds later, “this is taking longer than expected” and then quits.
It works fine if I put my iPhone in Airplane mode though. I’ve tried ungrouping, resetting and it still is just as dumb.

Yep all mine are fine (in the UK).

My HomePods generally do ok with asking for weather and adding things to reminders, etc. Its more often a problem when I ask Siri to control lights or other smart home devices that it will fail. Weird that it works when your phone is in airplane mode. Are the devices confused about who should answer? What happens if you leave your phone online and in another room where it can’t hear you talking and then ask the homepods for the weather.

Apparently it has something to do with a Weather shortcut in the Shortcuts app. Now when I ask for weather Siri responds with “I’m sorry I do not recognize that command. Tell me what shortcut do you want to run”.

Finally reset the HomePods again and now it works as intended.

EDIT: Now it’s back to asking what shortcut I want to run.

I suggest a HomePod reset, and maybe reboot your router

she's been worse since the last update. (all of 14.x has been a bit rough, hopefully it'll be better once people are all back in the same building, meaning 15 could also be a bit clunky)

in the past week or 2, I've had this happen twice. I get up, it's still dark out, I have a scene called "evening" with a dim level all around, "hey siri, evening" wait.... standing there in the dark ... wait about 5 seconds or so, give up. "Hey siri, evening" she responds in an exasperated tone "UGH, I can only play one scene at a time" (the Ugh and tone might be in my imagination, but I'm standing there in the dark half-asleep waiting for lights to come on so I can move, so I don't kick furniture or the cat)
