So with HomePodOS 18 public beta out, is Apple not updating the original HomePods to 18 or even 17.6?

As I don’t see it available in the home app, only the HomePod minis show up for me.

yes looks like only Homepod 2nd gen and homepod Minis get the AudioOS18 beta. no first gen HomePod!

I had too log into apple beta site and manually click on homepod os beta then it automatically appeared in home app settings under "homepod beta updates" before that I had no option for homepod beta.

Where do you get this info? According to this article, HomePod Software 18 will run on all HomePod models.

Here you go :) https://beta.apple.com/resources
You have to install the profile for the 1st gen. Then go into the settings for the HomePod itself within the home app in order to update it if it doesn’t automagically start updating.

i forgot i had 3 homepods, they are shelved in a box.
do they auto-upgrade themselves (plugied in and active of course)
or can this happen via manual?

Maybe someone here can help: i turned on the switch to use Homepod betas on my mini and version 18b got installed on the Homepod. Now the switch to turn on/off beta updates disappeared from the home app.
Does anyone know how to bring the switch back in the home app? I don't want to stay forever on Homepod betas ;)
I restarted the Homepod, the Home app of cause. The switch is just gone.

Edit:
The reason i installed the beta in the first place: the mini started to play music by it's own in the middle of the night. I believed in a software issue at first and thought the beta might be worth a try. The issue stayed and drove all of us nuts. It turned out that the touch display was faulty and registered "ghost" touches. I opened the mini and disconnected the touch display from the mainboard. Now the mini is silent until asked to do stuff (siri)
