Not in the slightest. I've heard this mentioned across several YouTube videos also before I got mine so I was on the lookout, but it's just a dim white light when it's playing music. Kinda disappointing. Missed opportunity.

Oh that’s disappointing, I was looking forward to that as an aesthetic and saw it mentioned but seems they must have all been listening to predominantly white coloured album art music 😂

I was looking forward to it also.

I'm still holding out hope Apple adds it in the future though I know it's not likely... It would be a nice feature, add a bit more life to the HomePod and take a bit more advantage of the massive "display" on the top.
 
Shipped and arriving tomorrow. I want to get a 2nd midnight black. Do people think stores will have availability. What time does the app update with inventory?

UK buyers - John Lewis still has them in stock for delivery/collection at a Waitrose tomorrow. Certainly better than waiting til March and only bought today.

Only in White. Midnight is sold out. Though they have limited stock in stores. Newcastle only have 2 midnights in stock.

Mine arrives tomorrow from AO. Had a £10 off code that worked. Got another coming from Very that’s being delivered to my local Post Office today as I’m at work all day.

Don't think we'll get much information that we do not have already. They sound roughly the same, with some saying the new one sounds better and others than the OG does. I won't be upgrading my OGs but for any new purchases or after they inevitably fail, I might consider the new ones.
 
My HomePods arrived today afternoon. From my first impressions the OG HomePod sounds better/ richer. Must do some more comparisons to come to a conclusion...
 
The twins have arrived! 😊

Wow. The sound coming from these compared to my previous mini stereo pair is amazing. Voices in TV shows are much clearer, the bass in music. I love these!
