So I’ve been waiting to buy a HomePod for well over a year now- a first it was the price. By the time I justified that it was might as well wait for the new one.
Was thinking about purchasing one now but with it being what... 2 years since release now, you have to think there will be an updated one coming in the next 6 months right?

it’s kind of hard to tell with the way Apple is rolling out updates now.... ex: just dropping the AirPod pro in the website with no announcement
 
If you get a good price during the holiday period I'd go for it. Most rumors about HomePods seem to be about a lower priced version. My guess is that the current model will remain as the premium model for some time. No guarantees.

If you waited this long and didn't find a great enough wanting for this HomePod, then you're not missing out on anything that would justify it now.

yea that was my thought as well. If I can get one for around 200 I may do that. I guess we would probably know by now if there was going to be a new one in the next 6 months?
 
Well, after the fourth call, speaking to the advisor for a second time, then she put in a request to send a brand new one. Awesome, it should resell for even more and she said it qualified for purchasing AppleCare on top of the 1-year warranty. Although, it's going to be hard to compete with the drops that are happening with other retailers that are down to $200 at times.
