I had (2) Bose Revolve + Plus speakers........

Once I purchased my HomePod I put them both up for sale on eBay the next day.
The Bose sound OK but not remotely on par with the HomePod.

You can have the Bluetooth connection......I'll take network connectivity any day.
Not nearly the range and Bluetooth is just plain buggy to deal with......not to mention the ongoing stuttering issue with Mac OS with any BT audio connection.

Granted the Homepod can not yet to paired for "stereo" but the Bose never ever worked reliably at all even though Bose says it can. Convoluted method of setting in stereo mode then most of the time never connects to each other.

I'll take my Homepods any day....

So be it, I was not going to spend the money to have two HPs for stereo anyway. You can build a better sound system with components and speakers for that cost.

The Bose will literally blow the HP off the table if it was positioned in front of the Bose 20. It is not even close with the sound quality, the Bose fulls the room much much better. And I have zero issues with Bluetooth.

Whatever.

Sorry I didn't comfort you with praise for the Bose......but IMHO they sucked, over priced and packed with features that don't work.
Top that with zero customer support and you have horrible product....close to 12-months since the release for the Revolve series and Bose still doesn't address issues.

Never purchase another Bose product in my lifetime.

BTW - Bluetooth for high quality audio is terrible.....if you think otherwise you better do some research.

Cmon over, I will show you how the Bose blows away the HP. No contest with sound quality whatsoever even over Bluetooth.

Just ask any of my friends who have come over and easily gave the nod to the Bose.

Guess we are all deaf, huh.

So, you start a thread asking for people's opinions of the Bose vs HP.....
Then when you don't hear what you like, you get all irritated & testy about it.

Yea, your a real charmer.....glad you "think" you have a better product.
Bluetooth.....high fidelity, that's so funny.

Enjoy...

The BoseSoundtouch 20 is loads better at this point. Doing a side by side reveals that. And all my friends agreed when I asked their opinions.

And it is the same cost and people can probably can get it on sale.

Glad I left my options open, I was going to keep the HP but it just not measure up against the Bose at this time.
Glad you posted this, i have just returned the HP because i wasn't happy with the sound quality, too much awful sounding bass and not enough treble.

The Bose Soundtouch 20 is what i am planning on replacing it with, i liked the sound of it when i tested in a store at the weekend.

Is it correct that you can turn the bass down in the Bose App, if so does the bass stay permanently down for all devices or just when playing from the App.

Do you use yours with Alexa or anything like that, i am just wondering if it is always on and doesn't auto turn off.

Next sure, I am just using Bluetooth to IPhone 10. I have not adjusted anything. IT sounds great, bigger soundstage with much higher volume than the HP if you want and there is not any distortion at all either.

Try it, I think you would keep it as far as sound quality goes.

I own the AirPod and the revolve plus , revolve plus wins and it isn’t close.[/QUOTE]

It wouldn't take much because the HomePod is poor anyway, not much of a benchmark.

I find the HomePod and Revolve Plus about equal in sound quality from some listening tests, but they are really for different purposes. HomePod is a SortaSmart Speaker and Revolve Plus is Bluetooth. I use more dedicated audio systems for sound quality, a Bose Soundlink Mini for portability and a Google Home for a smart speaker.

What about at lower volumes I read somewhere that the HomePod loses lots of mids and becomes more bass heavy when at low volume? I know placement plays a roll too obviously .

This is absolutely true. I just purchased a HomePod and I really wish there was a software EQ setting for the HomePod itself. I can barely use the HomePod at a volume higher than 15% because I’m concerned about the bass bothering my neighbors.

In general, the bass controls, volume controls from the Mac, volume controls from the iPhone buttons, volume control from iPhone during speakerphone — are a mess.

For example, if I airplay from iTunes on my Mac to my HomePod, my Mac keyboard will control play/pause, but won’t control the volume.

If I connect the HomePod to my Mac via the speaker icon in the status bar, keyboard volume controls work.

If you’re playing the news (hey Siri read the news), and you step out of the room, there is no physical volume control. Why can’t there be a volume slider (like the standard HomeKit control for lights, temperature, etc)? You have to say “hey Siri lower the volume of the HomePod in the office.”

It’s annoying. It doesn’t feel like a finished experience yet.

I could live with the overly loud bass, but the basic playback and volume controls are very aggravating.
