I play songs via airplay from my iPhone 11 to my HomePod. Every once in awhile, the volume bumps up for no (apparent) rationale. I use the volume button on the iPhone or tell Siri to turn the volume down. Half an hour or an hour later, repeat.

I'm on the latest versions of all operating systems. I'm using the Music app on the iPhone.

Any ideas?

YES. I have been thoroughly annoyed by this for awhile. It came with the last update before 13.4.5 afik. I’m hoping 13.4.5 fixed this.

Also why doesn’t my handoff feature work? iPhone to HomePod.

Still going on with iOS 14.2. But in my case the problem seems to be that songs play quieter than they should and restarting the song gets it back up to the proper volume. I really hope there is a solution I'm missing (and no it's not sound check) because this has me wanting to return my HomePods.

Is your HomePod in a stable location? Are you moving it around from place to place or have curtains behind it that you open or close?

HomePod has microphones and processors that 'hear' the sound and adjust it to the dynamics of the room on the fly. Perhaps there is something physical in the space that is making HomePod react differently each time. The solution there is to pick HomePod up in two hands and move it around and upside down, it triggers the device to scan the room and reset itself.

Sound Check does work. Make sure you have that turned on. Not only on the HomePod, but all devices like iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, etc.

They are staying in one spot. I need to do more testing but I'm thinking the problem is showing itself when the music is playing through the Apple TV which is how it defaults every time no matter what I do. I've tried sound check on and off on all involved devices, same result. Simply restarting the song gets the volume to adjust back to the right level so I don't think it has anything to do with placement or other noise.

I'm still getting random volume increases as well. My HomePod is on top of a table with a blank wall - no drapes or anything like that near it.
