With the HomePodOS 15 Beta Apple introduced a new toggle in the Home App, where you can choose to reduce bass on a per HomePod basis.

This works great in the small room I have a HomePod in. in the past the bass was way too overpowering, especially in lower volumes, now it sounds way better. Now that the big HomePod is discontinued we finally get this option, many people have been asking for since the beginning.

Finally.

Ironic how Apple discontinues a product and then add new features to it.

Anyway, a useful addition.

How is it ironic? We have iPad's that been end-of-sales for years that are still receiving the latest version of iPadOS. Why would the original HomePod suddenly drop dead when it comes to software updates just because its end of sales?

iPhones, iPads and even Apple Watch receives software updates for years after they are end-of-sales. I would expect nothing less for the original HomePod. Hell, you could still purchase the original HomePod in several countries directly from Apple just recently. Apple would be stupid to not support it for at least 2-3 years when it comes to software updates. Otherwise they are simply telling customers to not purchase any audio product from Apple as you have no real clue if they are dropped dead in terms of software updates in the next few months.

A better update would have been actual bass and treble sliders.

Wasn't the HomePod supposed to reduce bass in small rooms automatically?

I get your point: usually Apple devices aren't suddenly abandoned. Lossless update for HomePod coming later this year is another evidence that the device will still get some attention.

Even Airport received updates way after it has been discontinued.

I just didn't expect the bass control coming for HomePod. It's a feature that should have been implemented since the beginning, in my opinion.

In small rooms it's quite evident that it's too boomy.

I decided to get a second mini to use as a stereo pair the sound is amazing. The first I thought was missing is the ability to change the sound and also would be nice to have a left right balance. The bass toggle sounds interesting
Just need the OS to update to have as default audio

How do you get access to the beta? I am developer and have updated iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, tvOS. But I cannot find a lead to HomePods. I have 7 of these around the house - 4 paired HomePods, 2 paired and one unpairs Mini.

Do you have to use Home on a device on iOS 15 to see the option. I have HomePod Mini on 15 beta and don’t see the option in Home on iOS 14.6 so assume so.

Sad Apple didn't have all these updates for the roll out of the HomePod. Wonder how long it will be before an equalizer shows up? Anyway, it's great there's a toggle to reduce the bass 😂

I can appreciate that they’re still adding features though, considering they completely sold out. They could’ve taken the “we’re done selling them so you can go **** yourself now” approach lol.
