In the last week or so my stereo pair of original, launch day HomePods keep dropping from being the default audio device for my new ATV. They've been pretty faultless up to now, but I'm guessing that they may finally have succumbed to the usual fault.

I've tried resetting them both... they're right next to a wireless AP... connection is stable and other HomePods in the house are working fine.

Is there anything I can do to test them out to narrow down the fault, fix it etc or should I just accept they've finally given up and see about getting them repaired?

have you rebooted your router?

also wiring your aTV to the router may help you a bit, all wireless traffic also goes though the router, not direct point to point, so the aTV sends to the router, the the router sends to the homepods, taking that extra bit off of your wireless if it doesn't need to be there is usually never a bad thing to do.

too close can also be bad for wifi, since your router is having to "scream" so the things at the far end of the house can hear it, and it can overload the devices that are very close, I'd keep at least a couple feet between the homepods and your router.
