What a ********* up mindset.
You have really not a clue what you are talking about.

"Nobody is saying people killing themselves right after working on the production of apple products". But of course that is _exactly_ what the article wants you to believe. Otherwise, why is Apple even mentioned?

"and then there is the hypocrisy of wanting to be the best, most loved and most popular but not wanting to bear any social responsibility. " Totally wrong. You just have to go to Apple's website, where since 2007 they have published what they have done to improve working conditions, year after year after year.

what kind of a mindless apple drone are you?

there is nothing in the article that makes an innocent reader think that there is a correlation between the production of apple parts/products and suicide. its perfectly logical to name the highest profile customer of this particular plant/company.

are you freaking joking me? referring to companies very own pr social responsibility pages (thats like trusting samsungs benchmark results). apple has dragged its feet on this subject and the environmental one. if having apple named in a report like this upsets you so much then let them know it offends your pristine view of them

you dont seem to be arguing against workers right so i would think you would applaud any and all tips apple (and others) receive to improve their way of doing business

apple has dragged its feet on this subject and the environmental one.

Name one other company that has done *half* as much as Apple to clean up the asian suppliers? They were the first to have a code of conduct, the first to enforce a code of conduct, they continually audit, force reparations, raise the bar, and sever ties with repeat offenders.

Despite pushing the envelope in reductions in shipping materials, recyclable materials for products, unmatched energy efficiency, and longevity they continue to be placed mid-pack strictly because they refuse to "play nice" with greenpeace.

More details on the greenpeace and it's fake ratings.

Compare and contrast the Apple factory complaints to those uncovered through undercover work on the samsung plants.

http://www.chinalaborwatch.org/pro/proshow-178.html

Chinese labor law stipulates that workers not work more than 36 hours of overtime per month, but workers at Chitwig are doing at least 220 hours of overtime per month, six times the legal limit.

No electronics can be used in the dorm rooms.

http://www.chinalaborwatch.org/pro/proshow-175.html

This suggests that child labor is a common practice in the factory. The precise number of child laborers throughout the factory is unknown because our investigators had limited contact with workers in other departments.

Even after the company discovered the existence of child laborers in their factory, it took no actions to stop them from working and, instead, moved the children to rented dormitories off the factory grounds in order to escape detection.

Student workers said that the company only signed the contracts with teachers and did not check the students’ IDs upon employment. All of the copies of IDs, falsified IDs, or household registers of the child labors were provided by the teachers.

On the morning of June 29th, 2012, a worker in Line 8 of Production Three Packing, accidentally drew a line on a box, failing to pass the quality test in the OQC spot check. This worker was punished by standing for an entire day and was fired and fined 300 RMB ($47.6) in the afternoon.

and much much more. Conditions in Apple factories are already better than all others that I have seen reported and is improving over time.

If you bothered to get your self just a slightly bit informed, you would know that the suicide rate in the USA is about four times higher than the suicide rate among for example Foxconn employees.

And if you could be bothered to turn your brain on, you would probably figure out yourself that working conditions are by far not the only reason why someone would commit suicide. There are much more important causes; first mental illness, then things like your social life (dumped by the partner), stress through unemployment seems quite strong.

But here's where your comments are really annoying: At Foxconn, people killed themselves by jumping off the roof. That's because people don't carry guns in China, they don't have space where they can take sleeping tablets or poison and stay undetected until they die, they use what's available. And between Foxconn and Apple, they figured out a way to reduce the number of deaths. The method (putting up nets) is of course heaven for trolls who love to rant about Apple. So here's a choice: 1. Save lives and get trolled. 2. Don't save lives and wait that people shut up.

It clearly demonstrates that both for Foxconn and Apple, people's lives are much more important than avoiding being trolled.

Setting aside the mindnumbing masters thesis on the evolution of suicide netting at Apple suppliers factories, you totally missed the point. Mr. Liberal CEO picks and chooses his liberal agenda, and there are two words for his approach to ending worker exploitation in third world countries: Lip Service. Is he really a LINO?

Yes he/she is the amount of stretching he/she will go through to justify things is awe inspiring, he/she is a real life gumby. Be prepared for more stretching 'tis best to a few of them in here alone.

If Apple is so concerned about rights..what the hell are they doing in China?
