I've never seen anything like that. Absolutely mind-blowing. It was like a queue for a new ride at Disney. I liked how the crowd had to line up across a bridge so they faced the huge glass Apple storefront and logo. Talk about building anticipation....

Anyone notice the glass stairs? Woman + skirts = a perverts dream.

Translucent glass. ;) You can only see shadows.

HK is so behind considering that cities like Osaka and Shanghai already have their Apple Stores a few years back. That being said, this store did not impress me as much as the stores in Shanghai and Osaka did back then.

Oh no! Samsung should open a same store in IFC HK and claim that Apple copies it.

Ballmer (and now Samsung) would be getting their tracing paper and copying stamps out once again... They have no culture.

You two have it mixed up. Samsung will create a store, that has the same general idea (logo on the exterior, a cutout in the front for people to enter, products on tables inside, some staff and a cash register) then Apple will sue them for ripping off their 'innovation'.

But yeah, nice try.

Have you noticed the glass stairs? It doesn't look like the stairs themselves are transparent.

It's incredible to think such a company, product, shop can create such hype for people to queue to see a shop! No other shop in the world has this kind of following.

.....and lots of the beautiful Hong Kong ladies love to wear short skirts :D

Translucent glass. ;) You can only see shadows.

But there are gaps between the steps, and the sides of the staircase are transparent, so their is a good chance of a peak.

You KNOW some adventurous girl-women looking for a quick thrill will ware a skin toned underwear and short skirt and go up and down that stair waiting for someone to drop their iPad.

...Of course some will go a leeetle further.... :D:D

Those stairs look dangerous. Falling down them could become a spectator sport.

People confuse size with wealth, that's the gist of it. Apple is known for its wealth, while Microsoft is known for its size. That's how I see it anyway.

What's your definition of "wealth"?

If you look at the two companies financially, they're very tit-for-tat.

The comparison between the two is muddied as MSFT and AAPL aren't really the same type of company, even though people try to compare them. On one hand, AAPL has built the most successful retail machine the world has (probably) ever seen and its success over the last decade is due largely to that fact. MSFT is the peddler of the most prolific software in the world.

They're two different animals at this point and from a financial analysis perspective it's perhaps beneficial to think of AAPL as a retail company. I understand that's a very heretic thing to say, but MSFT is much more a pure play software company than AAPL right now.
