A simple plumbing question. I am adding an 8 port unmanaged Netgear GS108. I have been told to plug my eero Pro 6E into my modem and the 2nd ethernet port into the Netgear switch to plug everything else into. The instructions in the packaging show the switch plugged into the modem and the the wifi router plugged into into the switch. The eero is a mesh router its app shows everything hooked to it wirelessly, and wired. I think the 1st routing is the correct one. ???

This is how you want to connect the switch, assuming you want everything to be on the same network.

Just did it that way and everything is working as it should. Now I have to mount the switch somewhere. I am using CAT 8 cables they are shielded and I have transmitters in the room. They are fat and not all that flexible. I have the Mac Studio, and my little Lenovo PC online now. Now I can setup an NAS for the both of them.

There's nothing to be gained by using cat 8 cables in this application, in case you'd rather use something that's easier to deal with. Even cat5e is more than adequate here.

I was thinking about what you said and you are correct I have used CAT6 cables for years. I was looking what is available and I found and ordered this cable in a different lengths.
