So I am one of the sad imac users that got stuck with the vertical line problem. There are so many of these colored lines running down the screen it is very annoying to watch movies from itunes or netflix on my computer. I know i could get an apple tv but we don't have wifi and also they are 100 buks. Is there any cheap cord that can go from my computer to the tv so I can watch content running on my computer on my tv?

Have you clicked on that link at least and compared the outputs the MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks have and seen, that they share them with any of the iMacs? As that is the case, you can apply the same principles and can use the same cables and adapters.

Anyway, as you don't provide more information about what exact iMac you have, and there have been several models since the late 90s, I assume you have an Aluminium iMac with either a Mini DisplayPort or Mini DVI video output. If that is the case, you can get the appropriate adapters for your TV, which also might have several kinds of inputs.

But if you read the guide I linked to, you might get to know what kind of cable(s) and adapter(s) you need.

Or you could be more specific as to what exact iMac and TV model you have.

I have an imac osx 10.4.11 ( I think the first thinner white one they came out with) and just some old fairly small, thick panosanic tv, no flat screen or anything.
