I have an older macbook white (got it summer of 2009) that i want to hook up to a tv. I'm not sure what cord I need because the port is not a dvi one or vga. I've attached a picture of the port (it's the one between the ethernet and firewire). I'd like to hook it up to my tv's vga port or hdmi. thanks for the help

Follow ziggyonice's guide and know, that you have a miniDVI port, for which you need an adapter.

    you have a mini-dvi
there are adapters that go straight to hdmi cables or some tvs have a dvi or vga port in the back in which case you can just get a adapter for those
