HEYYYY!, so i got the hardware, everything is working through HDMI but when i bought the stuff at BestBuy the guy said to buy this cord:

I don't know if its the same as red/white audio or what, so i don't know where to plug the two white/orange things into. I'm wondering if this will have better audio.

The cord that you guys told me to buy (thank god) that works is:

^that one worked, sound quality is decent.

My TV is a sharp LC-19DV24U

The only way you might get better audio is through a digital connection. In that case, you would need an optical connection (TOSLINK, with one 3.5mm adapter for the Mac side). Most recent Macs have optical out through the headphone jack.

The top cable looks like 3.5mm male stereo mini plug to RCA male connectors; the bottom appears to be 3.5mm stereo mini on both ends.

Most current Macs can also use the digital toslink mini plug to optical if your tv or home theatre reciever has a toslink optical input.
