meh, not much into it. Steve probably doesn't even read email. If anything you talked to a customer service rep who monitors that email address.

But it was registored to a iTunes Store account with $108 in it... A address monitored by a service rep would have that, would it?

I have my boss's password to his email and pretty much everything related to computers in the office and his home. He's worth over half a billion dollars. :p

The CEO of Apple would not admit that he lies to get press to come to his Keynotes, and then call them reportards.

Do you also talk to Joe Jonas on myspace? I think there is an email address on there that is JoeJonas@yahoo.com
It must be him! OHMYGOD!

Anyone can change their Apple ID to whatever they want, as long as it hasn't been taken already, obviously. This guy apparently nabbed "steve@pixar.com" and is playing games with people.

. . .and to set your iTunes Store address you have to confirm it . . .

Not true...go ahead and try it. :)

And you can of course also set the billing address to whatever you want. It'll just be denied when you try to purchase with those settings.

It was Adium, yes.

Pixar don't give out addresses to just anyone, though, and to set your iTunes Store address you have to confirm it, and the address in question is listed as Steve Jobs.

Also, Jobs in not a nice person really, so he would call reporters reportards.

But you can change your iTunes nickname to steve@pixar.com, not your email address. My email and iTunes name are different.

Does the same thing work with MSN? I say email steve@pixar.com and see what you get.

Well that's just stupid!

Although, the account had $108 in it, so if the address was fake they would have wasted a lot of money just to mess with people!

No, they can just change it to the correct address when they're ready to make a purchase and it will work just fine.

The only danger was that they gave you access to it. If you had quickly changed the password on it, you would have had control of the account and the money in it.

Remember that thread I posted about talking to Steve Jobs on MSN??? You all said it was bogus and I thought so, too (I posted it for amusement) but just now he came on again and said he read the post on Google cache and wanted to prove he was Steve so he changed the password of his iTunes account to some random numbers (the word mactouch was in there between them, though) and the address was steve@pixar.com and guess what - it worked! I signed out and he changed the password now.
Nope I still think it's bogus.

I looked up the e-mail address and it does indeed belong to Steve Jobs, check for yourself!
It belongs to some twit that gave themself the name "Steve Jobs".

I am serious - I am not just a one time poster, I have been on here for years, I aint gonna make this up!
That is what makes your thread title more annoying. You should know better.

And as someone stated, anyone can use any user name so long as it isn't taken. Steve Jobs is not talking to you and I'd put money on the fact that he'd probably never talk to you.

Now I know you can just put any e-mail address in without it needing to be confirmed, it seems a lot less likely it was actually him.

I will talk to him tomorrow and tell him to respond to the e-mail. If he dosent then obviously he was lying.

I s'pose it could be a Steve Jobs.

I know the password for my manager's email account. She doesn't know that mind...

I wouldn't read much into this..

Not to say Steve doesn't have a normal life outside of Apple, but I seriously doubt he would be so unprofessional - and frankly, really doubt he'd let someone on IM sign in to his account just to prove who he is... if for no other reason than he would simply not care whether you believe him or not (if I know Steve at all). The fact that he's trying to get you to believe him is suspicious I think.

I'm not saying it's not someone who works at Pixar, but Steve is a common enough name; Steve's real email is probably something like stevej@apple, or sjobs@mac or hot_steviej4277@yahoo...

imo... m2c
