Horizontal text orientation problem on Illustrator

Hi guys,
if anyone knows how to solve this, I'd be thankful.
I cannot change type tool to a regular horizontal text orientation. Text only works on a vertical way.
I really don't know how to solve it.

Hi. Do you mean that every time you use the type tool it types like shown or is it just effecting the type in the type area shown? Prob dumb question but you haven't rotated the type area by 90? That's the only way I can re create your screenshot.

In my version this is pretty simple to change:

I don't think that is correct. I just played with that on my Illustrator (CS6) and changing the orientation simply stacks the letters.

If I type "Hello" then change the orientation to Vertical, I get this

l
l
o

That's not the same as the OP's type.

I think somehow the text block is automatically rotating 90°. Weird.

Is it possible the canvas is somehow rotated 90 degrees?

The text block is rotated 90 degrees, the rotation tool can be used to fix it. Somewhere the text block defaults have been changed. You should be able to fix them. If someone did this to you, simply delete the prefs file which will put everything back to default values...

Preferences - General - Constrain Angle - 0 (set to 0 degrees - 90 degrees will produce your problem)
