I haven't tried it yet because I haven't had time to set it up, but Zymic has free (and ad free) web hosting with PHP and MySQL. However, a small paid hosting package might be a little more flexible and secure, which might be important depending on your needs.

Check out estyles

really really cheap and very friendly

thankyou :):)

Just go to GoDaddy.com and buy your domain name. You should have it in less than 3 minutes if you click through all the crap they put in the way before the checkout.

the domain name i want is taken from a .com site. its available at a .com.au site... but to be able to get a .com.au i need to register a business apparently!!

also id rather not have to convert my monies into US, our dollar is pretty weak atm..

I actually went to your site and yours is the first web hosting company website I have ever seen that I could not work out how to sign up for an account. I'd get that fixed pronto as you are most likely losing customers.

Also, they offer the "The Power of Open Source Linux" using the FreeBSD Linux distro.

I use SliceHost for most of my apps these days. They are really reasonably priced, and a great option as long as you know what you're doing (and need root access)

i use dreamhost but plan on switching cause I need a host I can run apps on.

I use This* Web Host. I love it. I had an issue with connecting to a database remotely a few weeks back. something like 10:00pm on a Sunday night, but I sent in an e-mail and had a solution returned within half an hour. The service, support is awesome and their prices are incredible for the stats of their packages.

I use A Small Orange like some, while it is expensive for what it is I have yet to have an issue with them. Whenever I contact support I get replies within 30 minutes at the latest (as quick as 2 min), and I live in Australia and they are based in the States!

I have heard that unlimited plans are bad, with ASO I have 75mb which seems very small however I have a wordpress blog, 4 domains, and plenty of pages and I'm only using 20mb.

HostMDS.... Apple Servers..

Hi Guys, does it make sense for HostMDS to offer Mac Servers for hosting services?.

Does it make a difference to Mac users?. We are a Windows and Unix shop.

Mac's are not our world.

I'm asking you guys, because this is MacRumors.

let me know your thoughts.

This Web Newbie Uses GoDaddy

I've been using GoDaddy for a bit now. However please take that with a grain of salt. All of my experience (if that's what u even want to call it) is in iWeb. I have listed my web presence below. The one good thing I can say about GoDaddy is that they are always available via phone to hold a newbie's hand through the craziness of hosting and such. It has been very helpful.

Synhosting.

Small company. Excellent support. Google their coupon which will get you 50% off the first year. Don't oversell.

If you've got a weekend free, you could set up your own web server. I use a Dell Dimension 4300s running Ubuntu 10.10 and Apache 2 with a domain name from dyndns.com.

i am tempted to do this again, ive been using a VPS of late with 10.04 ($10 a month) but i am not really using it for anything THAT intense that i couldnt host from home. however my cruddy ~80KB/s upload rate is depressing :(

I use http://www.mediatemple.net/

I'm currently on their $20 (sv) package. Really powerful, great support. They're 24/7 on twitter too, as well their support ticket.

You can do a search to get $4 a month off too, not too difficult. 1-click installs are great. Helps a lot creating sites for clients.
