Hi folks, this is my first posting here.

My MBP running Snow Leopard has suddenly started behaving oddly. Every time it boots, and every time I change network device (e.g. from ethernet to AirPort) the hostname reverts to localhost. The boot log shows this:-

Jan 13 11:09:50 Lee-MacBookPro configd[15]: network configuration changed.
Jan 13 11:09:50 localhost configd[15]: setting hostname to "localhost"

This happens at boot time as well - configd sets the hostname correctly, then immediately resets it:-

Jan 13 10:48:40 localhost configd[15]: network configuration changed.
Jan 13 10:48:40 Lee-MacBookPro configd[15]: setting hostname to "Lee-MacBookPro.local"
Jan 13 10:48:43 Lee-MacBookPro configd[15]: network configuration changed.
Jan 13 10:48:45 Lee-MacBookPro bootlog[44]: BOOT_TIME: 1263379713 0
Jan 13 10:48:46 localhost configd[15]: setting hostname to "localhost"

There seems to be no premise for this - the hostname has always been the same, and it has always been configured as a local name for my LAN, using the UI Sharing preferences pane. The only thing that has happened recently is I have been working at a client site, so maybe a network conflict occurred there?

My only solution is to manually run "sudo hostname ..." every time I reboot or connect to the network.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hi bro.

Did you ever find out why this happen ?
I have the same problem. Keeps changing every 5-10 min or so.
Annoying really. Hope you have an answer 🙂)))

Thx man.

Eric
