Hot flickerin' Macbook

Whenever I shut my Macbook, I notice that the Apple logo flickers on and off from time to time, and when I open it up, it's hot to the the touch, everywhere - the trackpad, the "wrist rests," the keyboard.

Any idea of what's going on?

Sounds like it isn't going to sleep when you close it. Try putting it to sleep without closing it and see if it actually goes to sleep or not. If the computer is on when the laptop is closed it can get very hot.

It came back on the moment after it went into sleep mode.
